SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) has become a commonplace term in all businesses. A company’s Search Engine Ranking is standard marketing measure, benchmark and goal.
But, have you considered your inbox ranking? When you send your newsletters, and electronic direct marketing (eDM) messages, do your audiences rush to read them? Save them for later? Or delete them on arrival?
Here are some tips on how to get your messages prioritised by your readers.
- Ask before you add. Make sure people actually want to receive your emails. It’s called asking permission. It’s polite, and it’s legality. Someone that is expecting your email is much more likely to want to read your email, rather than someone receiving unexpected marketing messages from you.
- Relevancy. Entice people to read your email with an appealing subject line. Enticing headlines are usually ones that are relevant to your target market.
- Recognition. Make sure people can easily recognise your email. Who does your database expect to receive emails from within your organisation? Your Company? You, the owner? Your Sales Manager? Ensure the ‘From’ name matches your readers expectations.
- Branding. Ensure your email template is consistent with your branding. Does your email display your logo? Does it use your corporate colours and fonts? Is it consistent with your brand personality?
